“First impressions of the Training facility at Diamond are of a quality centre and this impression remains the same throughout the duration of the course. The centre is spacious enough to enable every trainee to have a bay of their own and also meant that we rotated through the numerous training bays.

This ensures that you are always facing a new challenge with regards to setting out in the kitchens and bathrooms for both walls and floors in all tile patterns/formats. The workshop is well equipped with an abundance of wet and dry cutters as well as a toolkit for each trainee containing the basic hand tools. The training and advice given is also first class and the instructor, Sam, explains things in the simplest form ensuring that everyone has fully understood what he is teaching. The structure of the course progresses in a logical manner proceeding at a good pace.

I was surprised how much was learnt and covered in a 4 week period and wish I had the time to carry on and complete the 6 week course. The advice on business set up was also excellent with external agencies providing guidance and information, backing up what Sam discusses throughout the duration of the course. Advice on pricing, tools, advertising and marketing along with the tiling training ensured that by the end of my course I would have no hesitation in going and completing a job from quoting through to the finish. This advice is also extended once the course has finished where the centre are just a phone call or email away.

To summarise, I would highly recommend Diamond Training Centre to anyone looking to make a start in the Wall and Floor Tiling trade.

“Probably not an unfamiliar story, but having been made redundant from an IT job in 2009 i used it as an opportunity to change direction and decided on a career in tiling. It was important in my mind to carefully choose the right training so i hope my experience will help those in a similar position.

I spent a lot of time researching and comparing what was available including visits to PTS in Harlow and Able skills in Dartford and numerous phone calls to other training schools but in the end i settled on the 6 week course at Diamond. What swung it for me were the facilities, the team and the course content seemed to be the most comprehensive.

It was the right decision. At the end of the course, i had completely tiled a bathroom and kitchen using ceramics, porcelain, mosaics and natural slate. We were taught different patterns – straight bond, brick bond, diamond set, herringbone and i even learnt complex patterns such as an 8 pointed star! One of the last projects we completed was to tank a new shower cubicle and tile in 45deg herringbone using 6×3 ceramics

The facilities are excellent. There is a range of kitchens and bathrooms all with the usual baths, WC’s, basins etc. to get you used to cutting out. By now, Diamond should have their 2nd floor ready which has further bays to increase their capacity.

This summary wouldn’t be complete without mention of the tutors, Sam and Paul. I would like to personally thank them for their patience during the early part of the course when the demands on them both are high. Between them, i don’t think there is anything they don’t know when it comes to tiling and they always have the patience to explain things properly and are full of tips and advice – a credit to Diamond.

To put it simply, you won’t go far wrong if you choose these guys for your training and i wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. I will be using them again in the future when i book in to do the specialist marble and Victorian tiling courses that they run.
